Over a thousand exhibitors, both Italian and international have been showcasing their products at this global event taking place from February 10th through 13th.
Promoted by the Italian Footwear Manufacturers’ Association, the 2019 edition of the MICAM fair is the biggest event in Italy for the footwear industry and attracts thousands of visitors and industry professionals from around the world. Taking place in the Fiera Milano Rho trade fair districtbetween February 10th and 13th, over a thousand exhibitors from Italy and around the world have been displaying and showcasing their shoes for the upcoming seasons. Just like every year, Emanuele Briganti, CEO of GuidoMaggi, has been at the fair, flying the flag for elevator shoes made in Italy.
The brand from Salento is a world leader in the production of elevator shoes for men and is known around the world for its high quality footwear, attention to detail and the first class manufacturing of its products; helping to cement the positive growth trend of Italian exports in the luxury footwear industry, that has seen significant growth in recent years.
The theme of MICAM 2019 is “Il Paradiso” or “Welcome to Paradise”, taking inspiration from Dante’s Divine Comedy, with the shoe taking center www. Made in Italy will again be the highlight of the fair, showing off the quality, craftsmanship and creativity that comes from a true Italian product. In the Italian footwear industry, this is responsible for a turnover of more than 14 billion euros, employing around 80,000 people and exports of around 85% of production, which is a new record. GuidoMaggi is proof that Italian quality is sought after around the world, with increasing demand and market expansion continuing in North America and Asia.
One of the most interesting ideas to be found at MICAM is the PLUG-Mi: The Sneakers Culture Experience, which is a new format for the world of sneakers, combining games, product displays, experiences and music events aimed at youths and Millennials. It will fully launch at MICAM in September. There is also space dedicated to Emerging Designers, including Anna Baiguera, Marie Weber, Panafrica and Balluta. Local talent is also recognized with space for Young Italian Emerging Designers Around the World. There is also a focus on China, with influencers and a seminar on social media.
Awards have also been handed out during the fair and there will be a showstopping finale for the event with live performance from the cast of “Priscilla, Queen of the Desert”.
