The Hollywood Press Association, every year gathers the best, coolest, and brightest stars the industry has to offer, and this year’s show was the most epic and fun annual show so far!
It is the awards season once again and we cannot be more excited. Everyone loves watching the Golden Globes Awards, right? Some of us watch it for entertainment, others for fashion inspiration and of course, there are those who watch the show so they can see their favorite actors and movies win awards.
The red carpet on the Golden Globes, or any other red carpet for that matter, typically is dominated by a large number of fancy looks. At the 77th Golden Globe Awards that happened on Sunday, January 5, the world’s biggest and most recognizable actors and directors showed up looking flawlessly, bringing quite a few trends back in style. From classic black tuxedos, bowties and shiny monk shoes, to velvet jackets and silk suits, it is safe to say that this annual edition, the stars have surpassed our expectations. While some, such as Brad Pitt and Daniel Craig, stayed true to their style, others, including Barry Jenkins and Jason Momoa definitely aimed to be remembered for their outfits for a long time to come.
When it comes to the awards given this year, we must admit, some of them were expected whilst others took us by surprise. Quentin Tarantino won the Golden Globe in the category of Best Screenplay for his cinematic masterpiece “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” starring Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio. For his role in the movie, Brad Pitt won the award in the category Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture. Joaquin Phoenix was the winner in the category Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama for his main role in the movie “Joker”, while Renée Zellweger won the Golden Globe in the category of Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama.
The Cecil B. DeMille Award, which is an award for “outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment”, was given to none other than the iconic Tom Hanks, who we should all agree, well deserved it.
A trend that prevailed on this year’s Golden Globes red carpet that we could not help but notice is the elevator shoes the majority of male Hollywood stars were wearing. Beautiful and with a discreet height increasing system, we all know that elevator shoes has a little to do with the height of the wearer and a more to do with eternal class and elegance. The stars that were spotted rocking these fashion pieces, among others, were Brad Pitt, Adam Scott, Leonardo DiCaprio, Eddie Murphy and doubtlessly the star of the year – Joaquin Phoenix. Jason Momoa, an elegant giant standing at a height of 6 ft 4, also was seen wearing elevator shoes, justifying the purpose of such footwear as much more than just height-increasing shoe trend.
Just like the 2019 British Fashion Awards that happened a month prior, the Italian brand, GuidoMaggi, one of the leading companies in the industry, expected such a trend to take place at the annual Golden Globes Awards. It is no secret that elevator shoes are preferred footwear choice of many celebrities regardless of their height or style. Some of the most famous Hollywood stars that always opt for casual-chic looks and elevator shoes are Robert De Niro and Al Pacino, as well as Tom Cruise, and Robert Downey Jr.
One thing is for certain, the 2020 Golden Globe Awards did not disappoint in any shape or form which makes us more eager to see what will the next annual edition bring!
